2020

Banque Syz opens a representative office in Istanbul.

Vice-President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris win the 2020 U.S. Presidential election in the year of Covid-19.
2019

Eric Syz steps up as CEO of the Syz Group, appointing a new CEO for each of the three business lines. Nicolas Syz is appointed Head of Private Banking in a move that brings both continuity and innovation.

Greta Thunberg demands action on climate change in her “Our house is on fire” speech at the World Economic Forum in 2019.
2018

Syz launches its private markets investment company – SYZ Capital under the leadership of Marc Syz.

For their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict, Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018.
2017

Syz inaugurates its new Geneva headquarters at n°1 of quai des Bergues

With his 19th Grand Slam trophy at Wimbledon in July 2017, Roger Federer became the London grass tournament's most awarded participant and the tennis player, amongst both men and women, with the highest number of victories in his career at 317 matches won.
2016

Syz receives the "Best Private Bank" prize for the third consecutive year, awarded jointly by The Banker and Private Wealth Management magazines

In July 2016, Solar Impulse completes the first circumnavigation of the Earth using solar power only.
2015

Syz acquires Royal Bank of Canada (Suisse) SA.

195 countries sign the Paris Agreement on Global Warming in December 2015
2014

Syz signs the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI)

At the end of 2014, mobile phone users reach the 7 billion mark, or 96.8% of the world population.
2012

Syz is ranked the soundest Swiss bank by The Banker, a Financial Times Group publication.

Postulated in 1964, the existence of the Higgs boson is demonstrated at CERN in July
2010

Assets under management top CHF 20 billion. OYSTER funds receive an award from Lipper

In April 2010, the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland interrupts European air traffic
2005

Syz Group assets under management top CHF 15 billion. OYSTER funds receive an award from Standard & Poor’s

Launched in April 2005, YouTube has 1.3 billion users in 2017. The first video, "Me at the Zoo", was uploaded by YouTube co-founder, Jawed Karim
2003

Syz opens an office in Zurich and launches its global equities strategies the same year

After 13 years of exhausting work, a map of the human genome is completed in April 2003
2002

Syz launches its new bond strategies

The euro debuts as the official currency of 12 European countries on 1 January 2002
2000

Syz opens its second office in the Ticino, in Locarno

The year 2000 bug sets off a vastly overblown media hysteria
1999

Syz opens its Lugano office and a bank in Nassau and launches its new OYSTER European equities strategies

The first TV reality show, the Dutch programme Big Brother, is aired. Loft Story would shock France two years later.
1998

Assets under management exceed CHF 1 billion

Launched in September 1998, Google quickly becomes the undisputed search engine leader
1996

Eric Syz, Alfredo Piacentini and Paolo Luban found Banque Syz and the OYSTER mutual fund

In February 1996, the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue beats World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov
